(This is a well known song on Sri Rama. During younger days I used to hear the movie song "nanu palimpaga" from ANR film, 'Buddhimantudu'. The rendition of this Tyagaraja composition by Dr. Balamurali is perfect and incomparable. Earlier I listened to the M.L. Vasanthakumari's version from an old cassette. If my memory is correct, the background for this song goes like this: Tyagayya's brother was upset with his brother's obsession (how people desperately seek for such a single-minded craziness for Lord Rama!) for Sri Rama and in a fit of anger threw the bronze murti into Kaveri river. After a spate of heavy floods Tyagayya miraculously found Sri Rama at his feet. This song helps me focus on the radiant dark cloud hued body of Sri Rama; it facilitates in contemplating on His form, compassion, and qualities. The song is very well suited for expression in Kuchipudi or Bharatanatyam dance form.)
