(I came to know about this kirtana from a cassette. Must have bought it either in Andhra Pradesh or in US. Dr. Balamuralikrishna gave a flawless rendition of every phrase. Here the composer is directly asking Sri Rama thus: "What do you lose if I don't praise You? Do you miss or lack anything due to my omission (of act)? You know very well the facts. The sages like Suka, Sanaka, Prahlada, Narada, etc., they all are extolling you. And Siva and Rudras are there too in the gathering." The next stanza becomes a bit complex to decipher, but we will explore the details later. Finally Tyagaraja says - "I am just a little boy compared to all other devotees". So, Rama, please disregard my faults. If I cannot attend to You, if I cannot sing and praise Your qualities - it's alright. There are thousands of celestials and sages who constantly sing melodious songs on You. I am just an insignificant entity in that august company!)

(Copyright of this composition (lyrics, music, tune, etc.) belongs to Dr. Balamuralikrishna; now the rights are with his family and MBK Trust. I am posting here the Telugu lyrics and English transliteration for the benefit of music students and teachers. I heard this song in Dr. Balamurali’s vibrant voice in a cassette, picked up at the Pittsburgh SV Temple. This song seeks the blessings of Ganesa, Hanuman, and Krishna. Ganesa for removing unforeseeable hurdles, Hanuman for imparting strength to overcome insurmountable major obstacles, and Krishna for His enchanting spell and artistic beauty all around. Often I find announcers (MCs) omitting the names of composers at public performances. This is unconscionable - one should always acknowledge the contributions of composers, the originators of creative artistic content. I feel a little pang of pain at the thought - that we have not fully appreciated the genius of Dr. Balamuralikrishna. But then, a prophet is never properly recognized in his hometown!)

Lyrics of "manasa sancharare"

Time is flowing fast like the spring flow in northeast. Of the many things that are dear to my heart - one stands out. The timeless compositions of Brahmendra Swami. A great composition always starts in "a heart in heightened state", reaches many innocent hearts via a faithful singer. Much can be said about these rare gems of lyrical composition. I have to post my feelings and comments about these lyrics later, if and when I get time to ponder on them. For now, I want to record these lyrics in Telugu script for the benefit of many friends across the globe. Obviously the compositions are in Sanskrit. With sincere respects to the great Swami, the kind Paramacharya of Kanchi, and many others. Though I refrain from naming them, I bow to all of them, with absolute humility. May their compassionate looks, guide me like a glade, through the forest...I learnt the song from listening to Dr. Balamuralikrishna, I think there is a version by Dr. Bhanumati, and of course, the song is in the movie, "Sankarabharanam" too. I have greatly benefited from the website of Kanchi Kamakoti; my umpteen thanks to the organization and its people.
